Introduction

Welcome to my website

Let me take the opportunity to present something about my work.

I work, speak, and write on issues of migration, labour market discrimination, nationalism, racism, class, ethnicity, and organization.

Here, you will find more information about me and my work (“about me”), my publication list (“publications”), interventions in public debate (“in public”), and about my recent book on labour market discrimination against people with a migration background (“new book”).

Currently, I am retired, but continue to work on these issues.

My upcoming book

I am very delighted to announce my new book shortly. It is titled Labour Market Discrimination against Migrants and their Children – Drivers, Mechanisms, Interventions and will be published by IMISCOE-Springer. It answers three basic questions regarding the discrimination that people with a migration background suffer from, not only when they apply for a job but also in career chances and occupational attainment. I will update this information with a link once the book is there.

  1. 1 What drives discrimination against people with a migration background in the labour market: racism, nationalism, class-based stratification…
  2. 2 Which mechanisms in organizations allow these drivers to become operational: practices and procedures of recruitment, hiring, assessment, selection, “talent” spotting, promotion, development, criteria…
  3. 3 Which interventions work or are counterproductive to prevent or to thwart this discrimination: training, awareness sessions, inclusion activities, affirmative action, professionalization policies, migration and integration policy reform…
